Farmers’ Manifesto
- We believe all people have the fundamental right to pure unpolluted air, water, soil and food! •
- We believe governments need to empower people and need to redirect their policies towards truly sustainable agriculture!
- •We believe consumers are the ultimate market and they know best what to eat, and that they have the right to choose!
- •We believe in the common good!
- •We believe that no life forms should be patented, including seeds!
- •We believe in farmers’ right to grow and save their own seeds!•
- We believe that there must be agreement on sharing the genetic commons! It is a collective responsibility, not to be claimed as intellectual property!
- •We don’t believe in using poison, genetic engineering, or nanotechnology to grow food!
- •We don’t believe in the eventual domination of the food industry by a few transnational corporations!
- •We don’t believe in farmers being ‘married’ or enslaved to grain, chemical, and GE companies!
- •We care about the environment and people’s health and welfare!
- •We care about what we eat and how we grow it!•
- We care about having neighbours and vibrant rural communities!
- •We want people to care about the way we grow food!
- •We want justice for all farmers and consumers!
- •We want the freedom to remain as farmers, and be able to grow what we want without GMOs and toxins!
- •We want our children to have the freedom to farm!
- •We want everyone to have abundant life!
- •We are passionate supporters of organic & biodynamic farming!
- •We are stewards of an intergenerational family farm!
